Trusting God No Matter What
"My Friends, be glad even if you have a lot of Troubles." James 1:2
Well that don’t sound right! And yet, this is exactly what he means. He is not saying you have to be “thrilled” about the problems and difficulties of this life, but other translations do say to “count it all joy,” or “be glad, even if you have a lot of trouble.” It just means that if you can keep your eyes focused on the “eternal things” of God and His Word. You will know that the “testing of your faith” produces hope and patience with power. James 1:3
I think we have established over time, that whenever God wants to do some new and bigger things in your life, satan immediately tries to derail that plan with new levels of persecution and affliction. (Mark 4:15). If satan can get you mad or frustrated when things don’t go right - he can control you in so many aspects of life. (BTW, I refuse to capitalize the name of satan).
Endurance and patience during our trials will only happen as we keep our eyes on Christ, even when things seem impossible. When we turn our eyes toward the problems it is like Peter seeing the wind and the waves and when he began to sink. It is what most people go through when they are constantly telling God how big their mountains are, instead of telling their mountains how big our God is! God’s goal for your life is about more than just being without troubles, it is about learning to trust Him here in the midst of your trouble, as if you were already out of them!
That is why James 1:4 says, “it is in that hope and patience that we become mature and complete, lacking nothing." The normal natural response to adversity is to escape it, find a way out, or a shortcut to make it easier. But God uses trouble to refine and purify believers so that their testimony carries a greater weight of witness. God really does want to do more with your life than you could possibly imagine. Much of what God wants to accomplish in you, does not come through the good times, it comes through the days when “Trusting God” is all you have.
1 Peter 5:10 (Bible in Basic English translation)
And after you have undergone pain for a little time, the God of all grace who has given you a part in his eternal glory through Christ Jesus, will himself give you strength and support, and make you complete in every good thing;
God Bless you,
